(Part 2) 3 Ways to Grease a Sealed Bearing Without Disassembling It

This method of lubricating sealed bearings can be used without removing the part from the shaft.

Prepare grease, a metal pail, a candle, and a fine steel grate.

Place the grate on supports of bricks or other non-combustible materials. Place a container of grease on it, light a candle, and place it under the grate.

When the grease melts, immerse the bearing in it for about 10 minutes.

Take care not to overheat the grease (if it boils over, it will fail and may damage the bearing metal) as you work.

To enhance the efficiency of this procedure, immediately after extracting the part, turn it several times clockwise and counterclockwise. This will distribute the grease more evenly inside the bearing.

The ideal solution is to spin it for 1-2 minutes.
