Features and applications of precision bearings
2017-12-27
Precision bearings are used in high-speed pumps and transmissions, high-precision machine tools, robotics and medical equipment. Precision bearings are available in the product lines of almost all major manufacturers.
Features and benefits:
Precision bearings differ from standard bearings in the higher precision manufacturing and machining of all components: rings, rolling elements and cages. It should only be noted that high precision allows to obtain several important advantages:
1-High rotational speeds (tens of thousands of revolutions per minute). This is important for machine tools, pumps, and precision instruments such as gyroscopes;
2-High rigidity and minimal runout, which directly affects the accuracy of machining products in metalworking machines;
3-Low noise level, which is important in medical equipment.
Application:
Most often, precision bearings are used in the spindles of drilling, turning and milling machines. Their function is to enable the cutting tool (drill or cutter) to rotate with high speeds with extreme precision and without runout or vibration. One angular contact bearing can withstand axial load only in one direction, so they are installed in spindles in sets of 2, 3 or 4. If at least one bearing fails, the entire bearing set has to be replaced!
