Regular inspection of bearings allows you to determine whether they require maintenance at a certain point in time. With standard machines, both the inspection and the cleaning process should be carried out at least once a year. In the case of heavily loaded devices, we are dealing with a proportionally increased frequency of maintenance.


First of all, the noise level should be assessed - this is done with a special device or a traditional stethoscope.


During the inspection it is also necessary to check the height of the temperature for this purpose a special sensor is used.


Inspection of bearings cannot be carried out without checking the frequency of oscillation as well. To do this, we need a device called an oscillation spectrum analyser, which is used according to the individual parameters of the machine in question. Two criteria are decisive for this - bearing condition and measurement location.


Warning signs that a bearing is due for replacement are distortions known as raceway leaching. These are the result of material fatigue, which is natural after a certain number of revolutions at a given load. The bearing may also lose its ability to continue operating due to improper operation. Some of the most common causes of this condition include improper operation, improper assembly, inadequate lubrication, and corrosion.
